Delaware Valley Wrestling Finishes 6th at Region III Tournament, Sends Four to Nationals

MESSIAH, Pa. – The Delaware Valley men's wrestling team secured a 6th-place finish out of 18 teams at the Region III Tournament held at Messiah University this weekend, with four wrestlers qualifying for the national tournament.

Leading the way was Sean O'Toole, who claimed the 141-pound title, earning him the distinction of regional champion. Malik Asfour (125 lbs), Jacob Blair (133 lbs), and Logan Flynn (285 lbs) also punched their tickets to nationals, each finishing third in their respective weight classes.

"This tournament is the pinnacle of our season and the ultimate benchmark of where we are as a program," said head coach Andrew Taylor. "For the first time in many years, we're coming away with a regional champion in Sean O'Toole and four total national qualifiers in Malik, Jakey, and Logan. These four have been incredibly consistent for us in a year full of adversity. I'm proud of our effort, and we now have the opportunity to head to the NCAA tournament with an army.

"At the same time, my heart goes out to the guys whose seasons and careers ended today. Ryan Arndt and Matt Mushinski, our seniors on the regional team, fell short of our ultimate goal but have so much to be proud of. Ryan will go down as one of the winningest wrestlers in program history, but his legacy extends far beyond his victories on the mat.

"We're excited to get back to work over the next two weeks in pursuit of NCAA All-American honors."
