DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The Delaware Valley women's basketball team delivered a dominant performance in its 2025-26 home opener Friday night, rolling past Neumann, 74-42, inside James Work Gymnasium. The Aggies set the tone early, controlled both ends of the floor throughout, and never allowed the Knights to threaten after halftime.
Â
DelVal came out sharp in the opening quarter, with
Alexis Wright,
Aubrey Ennis and
Julianna Harris knocking down early shots to build a 6-0 lead. Though Neumann briefly cut the deficit to one, the Aggies regained momentum late in the frame behind baskets from the same trio, rebuilding the advantage to 20-13 after the first 10 minutes.
Â
The Aggies continued to widen the gap in the second quarter. Two free throws from
Ciana Feliciano and four combined points from Wright and
Whitney Evans pushed the lead into double digits. A timely three-pointer from
Alexis Lease-Springer and a series of stops on the defensive end fueled an 11-2 run that sent DelVal into the locker room with a commanding 39-19 lead.
Â
DelVal's intensity carried over into the third. The Aggies controlled the boards, limited Neumann's offensive looks and extended the margin to 23. The Knights managed a small push to trim the lead, but
Jayla Rivera halted the run with a three-pointer. Layups from Evans and
Anijah Davis closed the quarter and preserved a 51-31 advantage heading into the fourth.
Â
Wright and Evans continued to pace the offense in the final period, combining for nine points on free throws and layups to push the lead back to 23. Neumann answered with a three, but Davis immediately responded with one of her own, igniting a decisive 14-2 stretch that sealed the 74-42 victory.
Â
Wright powered the Aggies with her first double-double of the season, posting 19 points and 11 rebounds. Evans added 12 points and a team-high four steals, while Harris reached double-digit rebounds with 10.
Emma Miller recorded DelVal's lone block on the night.
Â
DelVal is back in action for its first of five consecutive road contests facing Montclair State on Wednesday, Nov. 19 at 5 p.m.
