Hunt Seat Takes Reserve Champion at Bloomsburg

BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Delaware Valley University Hunt Seat Equestrian Team took a crew of seasoned riders to compete at Bloomsburg University's home show this weekend. Despite a less consistent day than usual, the Aggies earned Reserve Champion Team honors behind the host Huskies.

Senior Grace Allen earned a strong score of 80 over fences, finishing fourth in a highly competitive Open class before returning to win Open Flat out of ten riders.

In the Intermediate division, senior captain Taylor Pruitt and freshman Tiara D'Amico posted impressive scores of 83 and 80, respectively. Pruitt placed fourth while D'Amico finished just out of the ribbons in seventh. Pruitt also earned third place in Intermediate Flat.

Junior captain Sophia Frisbie led the way in Limit Fences with a standout score of 87 to win the class. The victory qualified Frisbie for Regionals in Limit Fences and advanced her to Intermediate Fences for the remainder of the season. Sophomore Maggie Mitchell and junior Rhiannon Swimelar followed with third- and fifth-place finishes. In Limit Flat, senior Kailei Makhija earned first place, with Swimelar taking second and Mitchell placing third.

The Novice division brought a sweep for the Aggies, with sophomores Nevaeh Anderson, Samantha Shwartz, and Elsa Heacock all earning blue ribbons in their respective classes. Junior Kellyn Meadows placed fifth in Pre-Novice, while sophomore Samuel Gant competed in Intro.

Next up, the Aggies prepare for a doubleheader weekend with shows at Alvernia University on Saturday and Rutgers University on Sunday.
