Hunt Seat Earns Second Straight High Point Team Title

PHILLIPSBURG, N.J. – The Delaware Valley University Hunt Seat Equestrian Team was crowned High Point Team for the second consecutive weekend at Lafayette College's home show, held at Top Notch Stables. Lafayette finished as the Reserve Champion team, while the Aggies widened their lead over Bloomsburg University in the regional standings by nine points.

Senior Open Rider Grace Allen was named Reserve High Point Rider after a strong performance and now leads the Open Rider standings by eight points over Bloomsburg's Kyla Sandy.

Allen kicked off the day with a first-place finish in Open Fences, earning a score of 82. Freshman Tiara D'Amico followed with another win in Intermediate Fences, while Senior Captain Taylor Pruitt added a sixth-place finish. On the flat, Allen earned second in Open Flat, and Pruitt placed third in Intermediate Flat.

In Limit Fences, Junior Captain Sophia Frisbie led the group with a second-place finish, followed by Senior Kailei Makhija in third, Freshman Alaina Guerrisi in fourth, and Freshman Makenna Hummel in sixth. Junior Rhiannon Swimelar topped the Limit Flat class with a first-place ride, while Sophomore Samantha Wills earned fourth.

DelVal brought a large and competitive group to the Novice division. Sophomores Alicia Smoot and Alexandra Adams each earned wins in their Novice sections, while Junior Gianna Spinelli claimed first in Pre-Novice. Junior Emma Conway and Freshman Ava Morales both earned second-place ribbons, with Sophomore Nevaeh Anderson taking fifth. Sophomore Samantha Shwartz also competed in Novice. The day concluded with Sophomore Samuel Gant earning second place in Intro.

Makhija and Conway became the first Aggies to qualify for the Regional Competition in the spring, with Makhija advancing in Limit Fences and Conway in Novice.

The Aggies return to action on Friday, October 18, when they compete at Bloomsburg University.
