WILLIAMSPORT, PA- The Delaware Valley men's wrestling team traveled to Williamsport, Pennsylvania, to compete on day two of the 2024 NCAA Division III Southeast Regional Championship hosted by Lycoming College. Delaware Valley finished day one of the Southeast Regional Championship currently sitting in third place out of twenty-two teams within the region. Eight Aggies advanced to today's round, with all eight DelVal men's wrestlers guaranteed a top-eight placement finish in the Southeast Region. Delaware Valley finished the 2024 Southeast Regional Championship in 4th place out of 23 teams. Sophomore Jacob Blair earned 2nd place for the Aggies and punched his ticket to the NCAA Division III Championships.
Returning NCAA National Qualifier Jacob Blair entered the weekend as the #1 seed at 133lbs. In the semi-finals, Blair matched up against the #4 seed Zach Beckner of Ferrum. The sophomore would hold on to a 4-2 win to advance to the finals. Back-to-back finals appearances for Blair as this win earned him a spot to compete in the 2024 NCAA Division III National Championships. In the finals, Blair would lose in overtime to Luke Hoerle of Stevens by a 4-1 decision. Blair is now a 2x national qualifier and will look to compete in two weeks at the NCAA National Championships located in La Crosse, Wisconsin.
First-year Malik Asfour earned 7th place in the 125lb weight division. Asfour dropped his first match of the day to Kaden Majcher by pin-fall. Asfour would bounce back and earn 7th place with a 13-5 major decision win over David Rubin of W&L
Junior Ryan Arndt earned 6th place at 133lbs. Arndt avenged a round-one loss from yesterday with a high-scoring 18-15 decision. Arndt would earn 6th place after he dropped his next two matches by technical fall to Avery Leonard of Alvernia and Nico Diaz of Stevens. Arndt is now a 2x Southeast Region placer in his career thus far.
Junior Adam Coleman took home 4th place for the Aggies at 165lbs. Coleman dropped his semi-final match to David Reid of Roanoke by fall. In the consi-semis, Coleman would avenge a regular-season loss with a pin-fall victory over Mark Troni of W&L. In the 3rd place match, Coleman would fall to Anthony Taylor of Avarett by a major decision.
Sophomore Luke Moore captured 7th place at 174lbs. Moore dropped his first bout of the day by decision to eventual 3rd place finisher Xavier Preston of Roanoke. The sophomore would bounce back with a 3-2 win over Austin Brass of Messiah. Moore would earn 7th place after defeating an opponent he lost twice to during the regular season. Luke Moore is now a 2x Southeast Region placer in his career thus far.
First Year Nick Hall captured 5th place in the 184lb division. Moore dropped his semi-final match by fall to George Moseleyof Averett. Hall would drop his consi-semi bout to Ryder Slayton of Messiah by decision. The first year would bounce back and earn 5th place with a technical fall win over Chris Nuss of Wilkes.
Senior Dan Eckley would take home 4th place at 197lb. Eckley would drop his semi-finals match to Lorenzo Pellot of Roanoke by decision. Eckley would avenge a regular-season loss in the consi-semi round and defeat Blaise Wagner by a 9-7 decision. In the 3rd Place match, Eckley would fall to Gable Crebs of Lycoming by decision.
Logan Flynn finished in 5th place for DelVal in the HWT bracket. Flynn dropped his semi- final match by a major decision to Trent Ragland of Averett. Flynn would lose his consi-semi bout to John Rya Seyovy of W&L by decision. Eckley would earn 5th place with a 16-7 major decision over Zach Benner of Messiah.
