DelVal Men's Wrestling Defeat King's On Senior Night

Doylestown, Pa- Delaware Valley Men's Wrestling Senior Night took place on Thursday, February 8th, as the Aggies hosted the Monarchs of King's College. Tonight's dual meet was the final home match of the 2023-2024 season for the Aggies. Delaware Valley entered tonight's match up with a record of 11-5 in dual meets and a record of 2-2 against MAC opponents. The Aggies five losses on the season were against all teams currently or formally ranked in the top 25 in the nation by NWCA. Delaware Valley hosts Kings', who comes into today's matchup with a record of 5-4 and picked up two wins last weekend over John Hopkins and conference foe York. DelVal Men's Wrestling have won the previous two matchups against the Monarchs, including a 19-18 victory last season in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

The match started at 125 lbs where first year Malik Asfour picked up the technical fall win over Patrick Horvath to give the Aggies a 5-0 lead. Kings would respond with wins in the next two contested bouts as Cole Anderson (133lb) and Noah Clawson (141lb)  helped King's take a 8-7 lead. Delaware Valley would respond at 149lbs as sophomore Greg Croce earned a 4-3 decision win over MJ Turi to help the Aggies retake the lead. The turning point of the match would come at 157lbs as regionally ranked first year Nick Delorenzo earned a pinfall victory over Shane Kibler. The Aggies would take a 16-6 lead as the Monarchs would lose a team point during the conclusion of the 157lb bout. Junior Adam Coleman would give the Aggies another six points as he picked up a pin fall win over Xavian Ramos. After Connor Wrobleiki earned an injury default win over Joseph McCullough at 174lbs, regionally ranked sophomore Luke Moore would clinch the dual meet for the Aggies with a technical fall win over Jacob Hatchman. Delaware Valley would drop the 197lb match up as regionally ranked Rich Fronheiser defeated junior Matt Mushinski by pin fall. In the final bout of the night, nationally ranked #11 sophomore Logan Flynn defeated MAC Championship finalist Bill Grace by technical fall

Delaware Valley has improved to 12-5 on the season and 3-2 in the MAC Conference. This win marks the most dual meet wins in a season since the 2009-2010 season. DelVal Men's Wrestling will be back in action on Thursday, February 15th as they compete on the road against the Cyclones of Centenary.
