Three Score in Double-Digits in Loss at Marywood

SCRANTON, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's basketball team tried to mount a comeback scoring 24 points in the fourth quarter but came up just short dropping the contest 70-61 to Marywood on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Aggies fell behind by eight through the first four minutes of the first quarter but sharp shooting by Alexis Wright and Aubrey Ennis cut the deficit to three. With 3:27 on the clock Wright teamed up with Ciana Feliciano for a 6-0 run to even the score at 14 apiece. The Pacers edged out the Aggies for the 18-16 lead heading into the second quarter.
 
DelVal evened the score twice in the first three minutes before the Pacers ran away with an 11-2 run to gain a nine-point advantage. Jayla Rivera and Felciano put up four points to finish the frame in a five-point deficit, 34-29.
 
Scoring slowed for the Aggies in the third quarter with the Pacers outscoring DelVal 20-8 to take a 17-point lead heading into the final quarter. The Aggies outscored Marywood in the final 10 minutes 24-16, starting with a 10-2 run to bring the deficit back down to single digits, 56-47, in the first four minutes. A 3-pointer by Ava Irizarry paired with a fastbreak layup from Feliciano put DelVal within four, 61-57, with just over three minutes left in the game. The Pacers held a 7-4 edge through the rest of the game for the 70-61 win.
 
Feliciano led the Aggies in scoring putting up a team-high 23 points. She also led the battle at the boards with 10 rebounds. Wright put up 15 points and Keenan put together 10 points in the game.
 
DelVal returns to action this Thursday, Dec. 12 in James Work Gymnasium to face Penn State Harrisburg at 6 p.m.
