Aggies Nearly Edge Out Rowan at Home

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. – The Delaware Valley women's basketball team stood just one bucket away from tying the Rowan Profs with 3:44 to play in the game but struggled to regain its momentum in the final minutes dropping the contest 60-52 on Monday afternoon.

Trailing by six to start the game, Alexis Wright led the eight-point comeback with six over a three-minute span to even the score at eight apiece. DelVal held the Profs scoreless for a minute leaving Aubrey Ennis time to secure the layup to put the Aggies in the lead, 10-8. Haley Keenan sunk two buckets in the final 36 seconds to maintain DelVal's advantage at the end of the first quarter, 14-11.

The second frame continued to be a tight battle with nearly two minutes passing before the first score of the game from Jayla Rivera to extend the Aggies' lead to five, 16-11. The Profs mounted a comeback cutting the deficit to one score twice, but Rivera and Keenan kept the Aggies ahead by four, 22-18, with 4:05 left in the half. Rowan mounted a 9-2 run through the rest of the frame to take a three-point lead into the half, 27-24.

DelVal cut the deficit to one twice in first two minutes before shifting the lead in its favor, 30-29. Rowan wasted no time changing the tides with a 9-2 run to pull ahead by six points, 38-32. Wright sank a three ball with 3:47 on the clock to make it single-score game for the Aggies yet again, 40-38. The Profs held the 6-2 edge through the rest of the frame to head into the final 10 minutes of play with a six-point lead, 46-40.

Rowan started the fourth quarter strong converting the long ball, but the Aggies wasted no time putting together an 8-3 response highlighted by 100% shooting from Ciana Feliciano and Aubrey Ennis making it a single-score game yet again, 52-50, with 3:44 on the clock. DelVal stepped up defensively holding the Profs scoreless for nearly two minutes, but Rowan ended the game with an 8-2 run to end the game, 60-52.

Keenan and Wright led the Aggies in the contest, both recording double-doubles. Keenan put up 17 points and 15 boards while Wright tallied an identical 17 points but 11 boards. Keenan also led DelVal in steals with four.
