| By:
Reading, Pa- Delaware Valley men's wrestling traveled to Reading, Pennsylvania for the second time this season on Saturday, January 27th to compete in the Alvernia Quad Meet. The Aggies started the 2023-2024 opening week of the regular season at Alvernia to compete in the Tonee Ellis Memorial Invite. DelVal would go on to finish in 2nd place as a team and would crown two individual champions in their respective weight classes. The Aggies would go back to Alvernia two and a half months later to compete against three teams in dual meets. Delaware Valley this season is 8-2 in dual meets and have won eight matches in a row, a winning streak that started on November 14th against the Spartans of York College. DelVal men's wrestling would be put to the test over the weekend as they would have to face two top-15 ranked teams in the nation at the Alvernia Quad. The Aggies would start off with nationally ranked Castleton, followed by Trinity, than end the night with a big MAC showdown against nationally ranked Alvernia. DelVal men's wrestling would go on to go 1-2 on the day with a win over Trinity and losses to nationally ranked Castleton and Alvernia

Castleton is currently ranked #7 in the nation and entered today with a record of 15-3 in dual meets. Last season Castleton defeated Delaware Valley in a quad meet hosted by Castleton when the Aggies traveled to Vermont. The Spartans are coming off a 3-2 performance at the NWCA National Duals where they placed 7th as a team. Castleton would go on to defeat Delaware Valley in dominant fashion as they would win nine of the ten matches with a final result of 32-3. The lone win for the Aggies came at 133lbs as returning NCAA national qualifier, Jacob Blair, defeated Drew Marchese by a 5-1 decision.

The Aggies would bounce back in their second dual meet of the day when they faced off against Trinity. Trinity entered the weekend with a record of 7-6 and faced many common opponents as the Aggies did this far in the regular season. The Bantams have wins over York and Ursinus, along with a loss to Western New England. The Aggies would go on to go win seven of the ten matches and pick up a 32-14 win. Delaware Valley started off the match leading 11-0 as Malik Asfour, Jacob Blair, and Ryan Arndt all picked up ket victories. Nick Delorenzo, Hayden Mann, and Logan Flynn picked up victories as well for the Aggies to contribute to the 32-14 win.

In the final match of the day, DelVal would fave off against the host school and MAC rival the Golden Wolves of Alvernia. Alvernia came into the weekend with a record of 15-2 and are currently ranked #14 in the nation. This is the third time this season the Aggies and Golden Wolves would see each other as Alvernia and Delaware Valley both competed in the Tonee Ellis Memorial Invite and the MAC Championships. Both individual tournaments ended with the Aggies finishing one spot behind the nationally ranked Golden Wolves in both team scores. In a close contested dual meet, Alvernia would go on to defeat Delaware Valley 25-20. DelVal would win four of the ten matches as Ryan Mansueto, Greg Croce, and Nick Hall earned victories for the Aggies.

DelVal men's wrestling fell to 9-4 in dual meets with all four losses coming to natio nally ranked competition.

Delaware Valley will be back in action on February 3rd, as they will travel to Courtland, New York to compete in another quad meet. The Aggies will wrestle host school SUNY Courtland, Oswego, and nationally ranked TCNJ.
