Delaware Valley Women's Wrestling Defeats Cedar Crest

Allentown, Pa- Delaware Valley women's wrestling travels to Cedar Crest College to take on the falcons in a dual meet on Tuesday, January 23rd. The Aggies entered tonight's matchup with a record of 10-5 in dual meets. Delaware Valley dropped their dual meet last week against Ursinus by a score of 27-20 and are looking to bounce back tonight against the Falcons. Cedar Crest enters tonight matchup with a 5-5. These two meets faced off against one another earlier on in the season as they both competed at the New Standard Corp. Invitational, hosted by York College. DelVal went on to earn first place and crowned three individual champions in their respective weight classes. The Aggies would go on to defeat the Falcons by a score of 42-5
 
The Aggies started off the dual meet with a pin fall victory as 101lb first year Jesenia Camargo defeats Lauren Jackson to give the Aggies a 5-0 lead. Cedar Crest would pick up their only win on the night at 109lb as Leilani Martinez defeated first year Mariah Koster by a 10-5 decision. The Aggies would extend their lead as first year Josey Wehr earned a technical fall over Adriana Dias, followed by senior Bridgette Schoultz receiving a forfeit at 123lb. Big win for Delaware Valley at 130lb as first year Layla Weiss earned a pin fall over regionally ranked Alaina Stanford. The Aggies took a commanding lead in the three middle matches as Eva Hererra (143lb) earned a tech fall over Olivia Horninger, as well as Carmela Vesacso (136lb) and Gabby Reid (155lb) receiving forfeits. At 170lb, first year Kathryn Martin won a closely contested bout as she notched a 2-1 decision over Draydon Charman. In the final match of the night, first year Sophia Pollack earned a pin fall win over Sarah Seltzer
 
Delaware Valley will be back in action on Saturday, January 28th at the Pa Intercollegiate State Tournament hosted by East Stroudsburg.
