Delval Women's Wrestling Falls To Ursinus

Collegeville, PaAfter participating in the Ursinus Duals and Will Abele Invite, the Aggies travel back to Ursinus College for the third time this season to face off against the Golden Bears in a dual meet. Delaware Valley came into today's matchup with a record of 10-4 in dual meets. The Aggies are coming off of a thrilling dual meet win over Western New England over the weekend.  After trailing 22-17 with three matches left in the dual meet, Gabriella Reid and Kathryn Martin picked up two key pin fall victories for Delaware Valley to help them retake the lead and defeat Western New England by a score of 27-22.
 
DelVal Women's Wrestling matched up tonight against a familiar foe, The Golden Bears of Ursinus. Tonight's meet marks the fourth time the Aggies and the Golden Bears matched up against or another. Prior to tonight, these two teams both competed at the New Standard Corp. Invite, and two tournament events hosted by Ursinus College (Ursinus Duals and the Will Abele Open). Last season, Delaware Valley defeated Ursinus in a home dual meet by a score of 20-16. However, this time Ursinus would get the better of Delaware Valley as they would go on to win the dual meet 27-22.
 
At 101lbs. In a tight back and fourth match, first year Jesenia Camargo scored a key reversal putting Madeline Gavares on her back and securing the pinfall victory.
 
First year Mariah Koster received a forfeit at 109lbs.
 
Ursinus would get on the board at 116lbs as Jocelyn Lass picks up a second period pin fall victory over first year Josey Wehr.
 
123lbs would mark the sixth match up in the past two years between returning national qualifiers Kalli Roskos and Senior Bridgette Schoultz. A six minute chess match took place between the two returning NWCA National qualifiers as neither wrestler registered a single take down. Bridgette Schoultz would go on to edge a tightly contested 2-1 victory with a push out point winning the match for the senior.
 
130-lb-143lb would mark three consecutive pins for Ursinus as Stacey Bloomfield, Paisley Fox, and Cloe Charlesworth notched pin fall victories for the Golden Bears.
 
Ursinus would pick up a massive win at At 155lb, as Emma Matera won a close 3-2 bout over first year Gabriella Reid. Ursinus would clinch the dual meet at 170lb when Gianna Perez defeated first year Kathryn Martin 6-4.
 
In the final bout of the day, Sophia Pollack would pick up a pin fall over Michelle Gushue. Delaware Valley would drop the dual 27-20 to Ursinus.
 
Delaware Valley will be back in action on Wednesday, January 24th when they travel to Cedar Crest College to take on the Falcons.
