Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Hoops Rolls Over FDU-Florham And Can Secure A Playoff Spot On Saturday

MADISON (Nj.) – The Delaware Valley University women's basketball team ran away with a 73-36 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom victory at FDU-Florham to set up a win-and-in situation in the Aggies' season finale at home against Wilkes University at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

DelVal improved to 7-8 in league play (11-13 overall) and sit in a three-way tie for the final two playoff spots. The Aggies next opponent, the Colonels, are a part of the tie and Arcadia University rounds out the three-team deadlock. The Knights will face the top-team in the league and ninth-ranked team in the country, DeSales on Saturday.

If DelVal defeats the Colonels, they are in the postseason as the fourth-seed and will host Arcadia. If the Aggies lose, they need Arcadia to lose to the Bulldogs to finish in a three-way tie for the final playoff spot. DelVal would secure the fifth-seed over Arcadia and King's by way of tiebreakers. If Wilkes loses, they are eliminated from the postseason.

The Knights lost at DeSales, 81-37, earlier this year. In the Aggies and Colonels first meeting this year, Wilkes earned a 61-50 home victory.

DVU is coming off a thrilling one-point win over Misericordia at home on Saturday, and used that momentum to earn a wire-to-wire win over the Devils on Tuesday night.

The Aggies led 32-21 after one half and outscored the home team 41-15 in the second as they rolled to victory.

First-year Maisie Neuber scored a career-high 24 points in 28 minutes as she made 10-of-14 field goals and grabbed 10 rebounds with two assists, a block, and a steal. Taylor Richardson added a double-double with 11 rebounds and 10 boards to go with four assists and two steals. Haley Keenan scored 19 points in 25 minutes and added seven rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Jenna Schiessl also reached double-figures with 14 points.

The Aggies and the Colonels will wrap-up the regular season with postseason hopes on the line on Saturday at 1 p.m. inside James Work Gymnasium.
