DelVal Men's Wrestling Go 4-0 At Kalahari Duals. Defeat Nationally Ranked #16 Loras

Sandusky, OH- Delaware Valley Men's Wrestling Traveled to Sandusky, Ohio to compete in the 2023 Kalahari Duals hosted by Heidelberg. Delaware Valley is coming off a 29-15 dual meet win over Wilkes last week in the Aggies home opener for the 2023-2024 season. The Aggies enter today's dual meet tournament with two wrestlers ranked top fifteen in the country in their respected weight classes and a total of six kids ranked in the Southeast Region. The Aggies got a big boost in the lineup today as Delaware Valley's starting 197 lb senior Dan Eckley returns to the lineup. Eckley, a 2023 Southeast Region placer missed the entire first semester of competition but returned to the mat today at the Kalahari Duals. DelVal Men's Wrestling matched up against four schools located in the Midwest Region of the United States.
 
In the first dual meet of the tournament, the Aggies matched up against the host school of the event, the Student Princes of Heidelberg from Ohio. Delaware Valley would shut out the host school by a score of 44-0. The Aggies won every contested bout and earned bonus points in eight of the ten matches.
 
In the second dual. Delaware Valley matched up against the Cardinals of Otterbein from Indiana. Otterbein were 0-1 on the day thus far as they dropped their first-round matchup to #16 Loras. The Aggies would put on another dominating performance as they defeat the Cardinals by a score of 40-3. The Aggies won nine of the ten contested bouts and picked up bonus points in seven of the ten matches.
 
In the third dual, The Aggies matched up against the Comets of Olivet from Michigan. The Comets were 1-1 on the day thus far falling to Augustana and defeating Washington @ Jefferson. Delaware Valley would win their third match in a row and defeat Ovilet by a score of 33-12. DelVal won eight of the ten contested bouts and picked up six bonus point victories.
 
In the final dual of the day, Delaware Valley matched up against the Duhawks of Loras from Iowa. Loras currently entered the Kalahari Duals ranked #16 in the nation on NWCA and were 2-1 in the tournament up to this point. Their only loss on the day was to Delaware Valley's fellow MAC foe #12 Alvernia. The Aggies would start the match off with a bang as first year Malik Asfour picks up the come from behind pinfall victory over at 125 lbs. Delaware Valley would earn bonus points at 133 lbs and 141 lbs as junior Ryan Arndt earns a fall and sophomore Taylor Weaver. First year wrestlers Nick Delorenzo and Nick Hall would earn wins at 157 lbs and 184 lbs to extend the Aggies lead 30-10. The Aggies would end the day with an injury default win at 197 for Senior Dan Eckley and a pinfall at HWT for Sophomore Logan Flynn.
 
Delaware Valley finished the Kalahari Duals with a record of 4-0 and knocked off nationally ranked #16 Loras. The Aggies will enjoy the winter break and will be back in action on January 6th at the Penn Tech Invite.
