Fairfield, Ct- The 3-0 Delaware Valley women's wrestling team traveled to Fairfield, Connecticut to compete in a quad meet hosted by Sacred Heart. The Aggie are coming off of first place finish at the New Standard. Corp Invite, where DelVal crowned three individual champions. Delaware Valley finished the tournament with the highest team score, including outscoring nationally ranked #22 Ursinus. The Aggies came into Sunday's quad meet with a chance to wrestle two of the best teams in the country. Sacred Heart is currently ranked #6 th in the country and Lock Haven is currently ranked #7 th in the nation. Sacred Heart has seven wrestlers nationally ranked in the top ten of their weight class.
Delaware Valley would kick off the quad meet with a 40-5 victory over New England College. After a double forfeit at 101 lbs, and a loss at 109 lbs, first year
Josey Wehr received a forfeit at 116lbs to tie the score at 5-5. A pin fall victory for senior Bridgett Schoultz and back to back forfeit victories for
Carmela Velasco at 130 lbs and
Layla Weiss at 136 lbs would give the Aggies a 20-5 lead. Delaware Valley would go on defeat New England College 40-5 as
Lilly Kinder (143lbs),
Kathryn Martin (170lbs), and
Sophia Pollack (191 bs) picked up pin fall victories for the Aggies.
Delaware Valley would go on to lose fall to #7 Lock Haven 42-0 and #6 Sacred Heart 46-1. Lock Haven and Sacred Heart won every contested bout by pin fall or technical fall against the Aggies.
Delaware Valley will be in action next week at the Kalahari Duals in Sandusky, Ohio.
