DOYLESTOWN (Pa.)--- The Delaware Valley women's wrestling team used three falls, one from Bridgette Schoultz, one from Makenna Cooper and another from Caira Jaynes to earn a thrilling 20-16 win over Ursinus in the Aggies' lone home match of the season.
After three double forfeits to start the match, Bridgette Schoultz picked up a pin over Kalli Roskos in 4:25 to give the Aggies an early 5-0 lead.
DelVal forfeited at 130 pounds while Ursinus then received a medical forfeit victory at 136 pounds. After Lilly Kinder earned a forfeit win at 143 pounds, the match sat tied at 10-10 with three bouts left.
Riley Frymoyer picked up a pin for Ursinus at 155 pounds in 1:34 to give the Bears a 15-10 lead.
With two bouts remaining, Aggie junior Makenna Cooper made quick work of Calista Kolmer as she picked up the pin in 1:10 to even the score at 15-15 with one bout remaining.
Caira Jaynes took the mat in the final bout at 190 pounds for Delaware Valley against Elizabeth Grace Harris from Ursinus. Jaynes followed in the footsteps of Cooper, pinning Harris in 1:09 to propel the Aggies to the 20-15 victory.
The win was the first for the Aggies of the season and the first for head coach Andrew Taylor in his first year in charge of the women's wrestling program.
Next up for the Aggies is a trip to East Stroudsburg on Sunday, January 29th for the PA Collegiate Open.
