DOYLESTOWN (Pa)--- The Delaware Valley women's basketball team hosted #9 DeSales in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom contest and came out on the losing end 68-43.
The win moves DeSales to 14-0 overall and 6-0 in the conference, while the Aggies drop to 8-7 overall and 4-2 in the conference after the loss.
DelVal opened up the game with a layup from Alexis Wright for the early lead. Maisie Neuber and Sophie Chevres scored the next two buckets for the Aggies with each putting DelVal back in front. With DeSales leading 9-8, the Bulldogs scored the final eight points of the first quarter to lead 17-8 after the first quarter.
The Bulldogs scored the first eight points of the second quarter to cap a 16-0 run to extend their lead to 25-8. Haley Keenan scored a pair of baskets in the quarter while Ciana Feliciano connected from long range as the Aggies trailed 34-15 at the half.
After DeSales extended the lead to 21 early in the fourth, Alexis Wright and Haley Keenan scored back-to-back buckets to pull the Aggies to within 17. An 11-0 run by DeSales put them in control for good, as they led 55-27 after three quarters.
The Aggies outscored DeSales 16-13 in the fourth thanks to a 15-4 Aggie run in the final 5:43 of the game.
Haley Keenan led all scorers with 19 points and added two steals. She went 2-for-4 from beyond the arc and 5-of-7 from the free throw line. Maisie Neuber had a team-high ten rebounds for the Aggies.
As a team, DeSales came away with 21 steals and forced DelVal into 31 turnovers.
The Aggies return to action on Saturday, January 14th for a 1 p.m. MAC Freedom contest at Wilkes.
