WILKES-BARRE (Pa.) – Sophomore Alyssa Blackmon finished second overall in the women's 1,500-meter run to lead the Delaware Valley University women's track and field team in the final tune-up of the regular season at the King's College Monarch Open on Saturday.
Blackmon finished the race in 5:19.95, two seconds off a personal-best, but good enough for second overall out of 13 competitors.
Grace Kane competed in the women's 100-meter dash and ran a personal-best 13.2 seconds to earn fourth out of 15 in the qualifiers. Kane followed that up with an other personal-record in the women's 200-meter as she took fifth place honors with a time of 27.47 seconds. Teammates Alysia Joseph and Kelly Hastings finished inside the top-10 as well with near identical times just north of 28 seconds.
Hastings earned another top-10 finish and reached a PR in the women's 800-meter with a time of 2:33.19 to take eighth out of 21.
Kait Jones set a new personal-best mark in the women's hammer throw as she reached 37.73 meters to earn fourth place out of 16 athletes. In the women's javelin throw, Lauren Yost finished eighth out of 13 with a toss of 25.7 meters.
The Aggies will head to the conference championships at DeSales for a weekend meet beginning on Thursday.
