DOYLESTOWN (PA)--- The Delaware Valley softball team honored their five seniors, Adina Brucie, Alyssa Gerdy, Gabrielle Landis, Olivia Monismith and Caitlyn Pollock, between games of the doubleheader against Wilkes. The Aggies fell in game one 5-4 and won game two 7-2.
GAME ONE
Through the first four innings, neither team could generate much offense, as the game remained scoreless heading to the fifth. Wilkes (13-15, 2-12) got on the board first with a three-run-fifth inning on three separate RBI singles.
The Aggies (9-20, 3-9) quickly responded with a two-run bottom half of the frame on a two-RBI single by Sierra Ripka to score Adina Brucie and Gabrielle Landis.
Another RBI single in the sixth extended the Wilkes lead to 4-2 before Emily Merrigan got that run right back for the Aggies with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning.
The Colonels got a much needed insurance run in the top of the seventh. Ripka brought home Landis with a two-out double, but was eventually left stranded on second to end the game.
Sierra Ripka went 2-for-4 with three RBIs in the game and Gabrielle Landis scored a pair of runs for the Aggies.
GAME TWO
DelVal wasted no time in game two to get the offense started, as Olivia Monismith brought home the first run of the game with an RBI to center in the first. Later in the inning, Emily Merrigan doubled down the left field line to score Monismith and Makenna Cooper brought home the third run of the inning with an RBI single.
In the bottom of the second, the Aggies continued to swing hot bats, as a Carly Mahal RBI single and the second RBI double for Monismtih extended the lead to 5-0.
The Aggies tacked on two more in the bottom of the fifth on a two-run single by Gabrielle Landis.
Wilkes would score two in the seventh, but were unable threaten any further.
Katherine Beckett picked up the win for the Aggies, firing a complete game allowing two runs on four hits and three walks with a pair of strikeouts.
Olivia Monismith and Emily Merrigan each had two hits for the Aggies. Monismith drove in a pair of runs, as did Gabirelle Landis. Seven different Aggies crossed the plate in game two.
