DOYLESTOWN (PA)--- The Delaware Valley softball team hosted Drew University for a pair of non-conference games on Tuesday and fell in game one 8-0 in five innings before losing in game 6-3.
GAME ONE
Drew wasted no time to get the scoring started, as the visitors plated two runs in the first on a double steal of second and home and a sacrifice fly.
The Rangers tacked on five runs in the second inning on five hits and were helped out by two DelVal errors, resulting in three of the five runs to be unearned.
The fifth run of the game scored in the top of the fifth on a wild pitch.
Carly Mahal, Olivia Monismith, Caitlyn Pollock and Yasmine Gonzalez each recorded a hit for the Aggies in the game.
GAME TWO
After each team was held scoreless through the first three innings, the Rangers were able to break the tie in the top of the fourth when Teagan Bradley lifted a two-run homerun to right center field to give Drew a 2-0 lead.
The Aggies cut the deficit in half in the bottom half of the frame when Alyssa Gerdy brought home Olivia Monismith with an RBI single up the middle. Two batters later, Caitlyn Pollcok came through for the Aggies with a two-out, two-run single to give DelVal a 3-2 lead after four innings.
In the top of the fifth, Drew tied the game on a bizarre sequence of events. With Madi Precht on first base with two outs, Molly O'Brien bunted for a base hit. Precht raced around to third with nobody covering the bag. After receiving the throw at first base, Gerdy raced home to try to apply the tag, but Precht avoided the tag to score the tying run.
In the top of the sixth, Bradley launched her second opposite field homerun of the game to give the Rangers a 4-3 lead.
Molly O'Brien gave Drew some insurance in the seventh with a two-run longball.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Aggies loaded the bases with one out, but Bailey Comeau was able to work out of the jam without allowing a run to earn the save.
The Aggies outhit the Rangers in game two 9-7 with two hits from Olivia Monismith and six other Aggies recording a hit.
DelVal will be back in action Thursday, April 20th for a non-conference doubleheader at home against Neumann.
