READING (PA)--- The Delaware Valley men's and women's track and field teams traveled to Alvernia University for the Plex Shootout and had a successful day, including a first place finish for Jonathan St. Hilaire in the men's 60 meters.
After finishing in fifth place out of 53 finishers in the men's 60 meters preliminary, Jonathan St. Hilaire found himself qualified for the finals. There, he ran a 7.14, good enough to take home a first place finish. Messiah Smythe ran a 7.32 in the same event, with Matt O'Dunlami clocking in a 7.33, finishing in 10th and 11th respectively, but narrowly missing out on the time of 7.31 that ended up being the last qualifying spot.
In the men's 200 meters, O'Dunlami finished in 11th out of 47 runners with a time 23.67 (23.663) and Logan Cooper finished 12th with a 23.67 (23.669).
In the men's 4x200 relay, the team of Cooper, Dontae Mason, O'Dunlami and Messiah Smythe finished in second place out of ten teams with a time of 1:34.36.
In the men's shot put, Brandon Perot set a new personal best with a throw of 13.93 meters, giving the first-year a fourth place finish out of 26 throwers.
Dontae Mason took home a sixth place finish out of 25 competitors in the men's long jump with a jump of 6.38 meters, while also finishing in 13th out of 31 spots in 400 meters, running a 54.63.
Sarah Mullen ran a 9.82 in the preliminaries of the women's 60 meter hurdles, good for fourth out of 26 competitors, advancing her to the final round in the top eight before taking home a seventh place finish.
In the women's one mile run, Alyssa Blackmon finished in 19th out of 39 with a time of 5:55.18.
Alysia Joseph clocked in a 1:05.19 in the women's 400 meters, good for a 13th place finish out of 29 runners. She also had a nice showing in the women's 200 meters, running a 28.73, good for a 23rd place finish out of 75 runners. Sarah Mullen was close behind in 26th with a 28.85.
