Aggies Fall At MAC Foe Alvernia

READING (Pa.) -- The Delaware Valley University men's wrestling team traveled to Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) foe Alvernia University Friday night, but came home on the wrong end of a 38-9 final as it concluded its dual match schedule.

The Aggies finished the season 4-4 in duals while the Golden Wolves moved to 16-4.

The home team got out to a big lead and never looked back. The dual started at 125 pounds with Keito Shaw earning a 15-6 major decision over DelVal first year Ryan Kelly. Alvernia claimed victory in the first six matches with three coming by way of fall. Quinn Tobin earned a fall over Russell Benson at 133 pounds, Jason Rezac pinned Greg Croce late in the first period, and Matthew Lackman earned a first period fall over Cooper Kidd.

Senior Youssef Ait Boulahri returned to the mat for the first time since the MAC Championships and returned to form, as he never trailed en route to a 12-8 decision.

The Golden Wolves got the points back at 184 pounds with a 15-4 major decision. The last two matches of the night were decided by falls for each team. Isaiah Johnson secured a fall for DelVal at 5:35 in the 197-pound bout over Tonee Ellis. At heavyweight, MAC Champion Palmer Rodenhaber was able to pin Austin Williams with just five seconds left in the match.

The Aggies have just one date remaining on the calendar – the Saturday, February 19th Muhlenberg Futures Tournament - before heading to the NCAA Regional Tournament which begins on Friday, February 25th.
