HACKETTSTOWN (Nj.)--- The Delaware Valley men's wrestling team traveled to Centenary University on Sunday where 12 wrestlers competed in the Cyclone Open.
The Aggies had three place finishers on the day with Kamrin O'Neill finishing in fourth place and Devin Horton and Logan Flynn each taking fifth.
O'Neill, the first-year 149 pounder, won his first two matches of the day, the second by fall in 4:54, to advance to the semifinals. He dropped a tight 9-7 decision in the semis, dropping him to the consolation semifinals. There, with the match tied at 3-3, he picked up his second pin of the day in the third period to advance to the third place bout. In his battle for third, O'Neill fell behind 9-4 after two periods and put together a comeback in the final minute, before coming up short 14-12 to finish in the fourth.
First-year 141 pounder Devin Horton opened up the tournament with a 6-5 loss, quickly moving him to the consolation bracket. In his next match, he earned a 6-2 victory before running away with a 16-4 major decision to advance to the consolation semis. After losing by fall in that match, Horton picked up a forfeit victory in the fifth place bout.
At heavyweight, first-year Logan Flynn fell in his first match before battling his way through the consolation bracket. In his next bout, while leading 20-6, Flynn picked up his only pin of the day in 4:44. He advanced to the next round where he cruised to an 11-0 major decision before dropping a 5-2 decision, pushing him to the fifth place bout. He earned fifth place after winning via medical forfeit.
Lucas Sabo (141 pounds), Andre Henene (149 pounds) and Adam Coleman (165 pounds) each picked up one victory on the day via fall while Declan Smith (149 pounds) won one match as well.
The Aggies move on to their dual schedule on Friday, December 9th at Wilkes University at 7 p.m. On Saturday, DelVal will travel to Stevens for a tri-match with the host Ducks and Messiah.
