DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) -- As part of a continued effort to enhance resources across the department, Delaware Valley University and director of athletics Dave Duda announced the promotion of Jamie Stefani to full-time head softball coach after a national search to fill the position. It is the first time in program history that the head coach position has been full-time.
Stefani, a four-year standout during her playing career and the most decorated Aggie in program history, assumed the head coach position on a part-time basis in January of 2020, two months before the start of the 2020 campaign that was ultimately cut short by the coronavirus pandemic. Prior to taking the helm, she was a graduate assistant with the team while pursuing her MBA.
Stefani guided last year's squad to a 2-1 series win over FDU-Florham in the first round of the MAC Freedom Playoffs. The Aggies won the first game on the road, 7-6, and won the rubber-match on its home field, 5-3.
During her playing days with the Green and Gold, Stefani was a leader on and off the field. She served as a four-year team captain, four-time all-conference honoree, and earned a spot on the MAC Academic Honor Roll every year. As a junior, she finished third in all of Division III in batting with a .535 average and became the first student-athlete in program history to earn All-America honors. She repeated the feat of All-America her senior year, and etched her name throughout the program record book.
A native of Budd Lake, New Jersey and Mount Olive high school, Stefani is the program's all-time leader in career hits, on-base percentage, batting, games pitched, games won, and strikeouts and holds single-season marks for OBP, games pitched, games won, and strikeouts.
Stefani spent last season leading her team through the challenges of a pandemic, a condensed season, and recruiting her first class of Aggies. She looks forward to building upon a program she takes great pride in and continuing to recruit future student-athletes.
