Women's Basketball Wins Again With 62-39 Road Victory At FDU-Florham

MADISON (Nj.) – The Delaware Valley University women's basketball team earned its fourth straight win and a berth in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom championship game with a 62-39 road triumph over FDU-Florham on Friday night.

The Aggies finished the regular season 4-4 overall and 4-2 in league play. The .667 conference win-percentage puts them in a tie with Misericordia University for second place, but by virtue of tie-breaker DelVal earned the second seed and the right to play undefeated DeSales University for the conference championship. The date and time of that contest will be announced next week.

The Aggies held the Devils to six points in the first quarter and took a nine-point lead into the second as they hit 50-percent of their field goals and had an assist on all seven.

DelVal maintained a nine-point advantage midway through the second before FDU went on a 10-2 run to pull within one, 24-23, late in the stanza. The Aggies responded by closing the half with a 7-0 run including a trey at the buzzer by Lauren Moretti to make it 31-23 going into the break.

The third quarter mirrored the first as DelVal held the Devils to just six points, but this time hit 10-of-14 (71.4%) of their field goals en route to a 27-point stanza as the lead ballooned to 58-29 going into the fourth.

FDU outscored the visitors 10-4 in the final ten minutes but the damage was done and the Aggies cruised to a 62-39 road win.

Shayne Glenn recorded a game-high 19 points on 9-of-13 shooting and Taylor Richardson notched career-highs in rebounds and assists with 11 and six, respectively. First-year Haley Keenan finished with 14 points and Emily Kutskel was 5-for-5 from the line and 4-for-7 from the field for 13 points to go with five rebounds and three blocked shots. Moretti pitched in with seven rebounds, five points, four assists, and three steals.
