MIDDLETOWN (PA)--- The Delaware Valley men's wrestling team took on three opponents in the Hershey Duals on Saturday hosted by Messiah College at Middletown High School and posted a 1-2 mark, coming up just shy of finishing at 2-1.
In the first dual, the Aggies fell to Millikin, 27-12. DelVal bounced back in the second dual by defeating McDaniel, 24-14. In the third and final dual, the Aggies lost a tightly contested battle, 23-21, to Messiah.
In the first dual against Millikin, the Aggies fell behind 6-0 after two bouts. Russell Benson and Greg Croce responded by each winning by decision, tying the match at 6-6. After Milikin got a decision and a pin to take a 15-6 advantage, Youssef Ait Boulahri and Jake Nase brought the Aggies to within three at 15-12 after each winning by decision. The Big Blue won the final two bouts by DQ and by fall to win 27-12.

DelVal bounced back nicely in their second match of the day against McDaniel. Ryan Kelly, Rashad Stratton, Russell Benson and Greg Croce each won their bouts to give DelVal a quick 18-0 lead. McDaniel won the next two to bring the gap to 18-8 before Ait Boulahri earned a 12-7 decision to extend the Aggie lead to 21-8. The Green Terror won the next two bouts, but Dan Eckley ended strong for the Aggies with a 5-2 decision, as DelVal secured the 24-14 victory.

The third and final match of the day against Messiah was tightly contested. Kelly and Startton got the Aggies off to a 6-0 lead after two bouts. Messiah won the next four bouts via fall, tech fall, injury and decision to take a 20-6 advantage. Ait Boulahri picked up a pin in the 7th bout to bring the Aggies to within eight at 20-12. Messiah then grew their lead to 23-12 with two bouts left. Jackson Crawn earned a fall in the ninth bout, keeping DelVal alive at 23-18 heading into the final heavyweight bout. Dan Eckley was able to pick up a 4-2 decision, but the Aggies fell just short, 23-21. Each team won five bouts, a year after Messiah defeated DelVal 42-9 and won eight out of ten.
