Former Standout Jamie Stefani Named Head Softball Coach

DOYLESTOWN (Pa.) – Delaware Valley University and Director of Athletics David Duda announced this week that former All-American and alumni Jamie Stefani has been elevated to head softball coach.

"I am thrilled to welcome our most decorated athlete in DelVal softball history back to direct our team," said Duda. "We all look forward to supporting Jamie as she puts her stamp on the program in pursuit of competing at the highest level. She brings a genuine enthusiasm with her each day and I am sure it will be contagious within the program."

Stefani recently finished her standout career as the most decorated athlete in program history and joined the coaching staff after graduation. She takes over for her former head coach Kaitlyn Cooper who announced her resignation just before the holidays.

"I am extremely honored and excited to become the next head softball coach for this program, and very grateful for the opportunity," Stefani commented. "My goal is to build a successful program and I am confident that I have a great group of girls on the team this year to help us get started in the right direction. I thank Athletic Director David Duda for his support and his confidence in my abilities, and I look forward to working closely with him and the rest of the athletic department."

A four-year captain and four-time Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Academic Honor Roll recipient, Stefani led her team on and off the field during her four years. She owns nearly every pitching and hitting record in program history including career marks for hits (167), on-base percentage (.549), batting (.474), games pitched (96), games won (38), and strikeouts (457). She also holds single-season records for on-base percentage (.608), games pitched (27), games won (11), and strikeouts (125).

Stefani earned her first of two All-American honors after her junior season to become the first DelVal softball player to do so. She finished third in all of Division III that year with a .535 batting average.

A native of Budd Lake, New Jersey and graduate of Mount Olive High School, Stefani was a three-time MAC Freedom first-team honoree, once named an honorable mention, and took home CoSIDA First Team All-District honors once. During her senior year, she served as SAAC president and earned the DelVal Frank Wolfgang Scholar Athlete Award.

Stefani and the 2020 Aggie softball team are slated to start the season on March 9th during their spring break trip to Florida.
