Lancaster, Pa. -- Six Delaware Valley University wrestlers took to the mat for the first time in 2019 at the David H. Lehman F&M Open hosted by Franklin & Marshall on Saturday.
At 157 pounds,
Dan Colon and
Chris Richardson each lost their first match, and then faced off against each other in round three. Colon earned a bye in round two, and Richardson defeated Padraig Lupole (Binghamton), 7-0, to set up the dual. Richardson came out on top with a 4-1 victory over Colon.
Anthony Snyder fell into the consolation bracket at 165 pounds, then won two matches before falling to Jonathan Carrera of Navy. Snyder won by 8-0 major decision over Reed Custer (Kutztown University)
and then earned an 8-2 decision over Benjamin Root (American University-Unattached).
Kyle Hillermeier won his first two matches with a fall at 2:26 over Noah Satterfield (Davidson) and an 8-3 decision over Malik Jackson (Millersville). In the consolation quarter finals, Hillermeier was pinned by Travis Stefanik of division I Princeton at 2:03.
Chris Mittler won one match in the 184-pound consolation bracket with a 5-3 decision over Demetrius Ruiz (Middlesex County College).
Steve Horvath competed at 197 pounds, but fell to Colton Dull of division II Millersville and William Baldwin of division I Old Dominion.
