CENTER VALLEY (PA) –
Chloe Dennerlein picked up a win at singles while
Laken Henry and
Allie Vaccaro teamed for a triumph in doubles, but Delaware Valley University dropped a 7-2 decision at DeSales University in its Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom opener.
The Bulldogs improved to 8-2 and 2-0 while the Aggies fell to 4-9 and 0-1.
Dennerlein took the court at fifth singles and notched a 7-5, 6-3 victory over Gabby Serratore. Meanwhile, Henry and Vaccaro had an 8-5 triumph over Amanda Becker and Alex Rodier at third doubles.
The rest of the day belonged to DeSales, but there were a pair of three-set battles in singles. Vaccaro took on Amber Achenbach at second singles and took the first set 6-2. However, Achenbach lost just one game over the two sets for the win.
At third singles,
Melanie Mayhew dropped the opening set, 6-1, but came back with a 7-6 (7-5) tiebreaker to force a third and deciding set. However, Rodier swept all six games in the third for the win.
