DOYLESTOWN (PA) –
Allie Vaccaro's win at second singles was the highlight for Delaware Valley University women's tennis in an 8-1, Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom setback to visiting FDU-Florham.
The Devils improved to 9-3 overall and a perfect 4-0 in conference play while the Aggies fell to 4-14 and 0-5.
DelVal may still reschedule a home match that has been postponed multiple times. However, if it does not get made up, then this was the last home event for seniors
Tess Hansler,
Laken Henry,
Natalie Hoffman and
Melanie Mayhew, the first four-year class in program history. All four hit the court in both singles' and doubles' competition.
In doubles, Hansler and Hoffman teamed to win one game at the top spot while Mayhew was part of second doubles. Henry and Vaccaro were at third doubles and dropped an 8-4 decision.
Vaccaro came through in singles' action as the junior registered a 6-1, 6-3 triumph over Christine Kenny. Another underclassmen, sophomore
Chloe Dennerlein, went three sets at fifth singles, but fell 4-6, 6-3, 10-7 to Mia Capozzoli.
Hansler won five games at sixth singles while Hoffman, Mayhew and Henry were swept in their matches.
DelVal will travel to King's College for a MAC Freedom match on Saturday, April 21 (11 a.m.).
