Aggie Wrestlers End Dual Meet Campaign With Setback At No. 19 TCNJ

EWING (NJ) – The Delaware Valley University wrestling team ended its dual meet season with a 33-5 setback at 19th-ranked The College of New Jersey.

The Lions improved to 15-4 while the Aggies slipped to 7-10.

DelVal picked up its lone wins with decisions at 141 and 184 pounds (the Aggies were deducted a team point at 184). At 141, Tim Ambacher, ranked eighth in Division III, earned a 5-2 decision over Robert Dinger. It was the 19th win this season in 25 matches for the returning national qualifier.

Nicholas Bord, who won in overtime on Thursday night, made it two straight thanks to a 6-3 triumph over Thomas Anderson at 184 pounds. Bord, a mid-season transfer, upped his record to 7-4.

TCNJ never trailed in the match as it picked up a pin and a decision in the opening two weight classes. Following Ambacher's win, the Lions earned 15 points over the next four weights thanks to three major decisions and a decision.

Bord stopped that run with his win, but TCNJ got a decision at 197 pounds and a pin at heavyweight for the 33-5 final.

DelVal will now prepare for the NCAA Division III Southeast Regional Championships to be held in Rocky Mont, Virginia on February 23 and 24. It is a qualifying tournament for the NCAA Championships as the top three finishers in each weight class advance to nationals.
