Women's Hoops Suffers First Home Loss To Brooklyn

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Visiting Brooklyn College outscored the Delaware Valley University women's basketball team 23-5 in the first quarter en route to a 76-56 non-conference victory.

The Bulldogs reached the NCAA Division III tournament a year ago and are off to a 2-0 start this season while the Aggies dropped to 3-2.

After falling behind big in the first 10 minutes, DelVal outscored Brooklyn 23-13 in the second stanza cut its deficit to eight, 36-28, at halftime. Danielle Skedzielewski led the Aggies with seven points in the second quarter.

The teams traded 3-pointers to start the second half, but the Bulldogs went on a 17-3 run that spanned six minutes of game time to take a 56-36 lead. They led 59-42 going into the fourth.

Brooklyn outscored DelVal 17-14 in the final stanza to run away with the 76-56 victory.

Alexandra Moogan led the Bulldogs with 22 points including 5-of-10 shooting from beyond the arc, and added three steals and five boards. Chanel Jemmott notched a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds and Dionna Rogers led all players in the game with 13 boards to go with seven points. Jasmine Hansgen finished with 10 points and six rebounds.

Moser led the Aggies with 13 points and added six rebounds, five assists and four steals. Skedzielewski, Amber Grohowski and Lauren Moretti each finished with nine points. Grohowski added five rebounds while Skedzielewski grabbed three and dished out three assists. Emily Kutskel led the team with 10 rebounds and had two blocks and two steals. Monika Smallwood saw limited action in her first game of the season, and she recorded four points and two rebounds.

DelVal will be home again next Wednesday for its first Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Freedom tilt as it welcomes the Manhattanville Valiants for an 8 p.m. tip.
