ITHACA (NY) – The Delaware Valley University wrestling team concluded its two-day trip to upstate New York with a 43-6 setback to third-ranked Ithaca College on Saturday.
The Bombers improved to 9-2 on the season while the Aggies dropped to 5-8.
Ithaca won nine of the 10 weight classes thanks to four pins, three decisions, a major decision and a forfeit. The four pins came in a span of five weights and were produced by three of the Bombers' six nationally-ranked wrestlers. In fact, five of the six hit the mats in the match and produced 28 of the team's points.
DelVal's lone points came at heavyweight when
Marc Isaac was awarded a forfeit. The Aggies nearly got the win at 133 where two-time national qualifier
Brenden Velez battled Tito Colom and was edged, 4-3.
DelVal will return to action on Saturday, February 3 (12 p.m.) when it hosts a tri-match with Temple University's club team and Camden County College. It will be the first time the team is wrestling at home since the season opener back on November 1, 2017.
