WILKES-BARRE (PA) – Delaware Valley College dropped a pair of matches to nationally-ranked opponents on Saturday, losing to No. 22 York College, 23-12, and No. 11 Wilkes University, 26-15.

The day was originally supposed to be a quad match with Muhlenberg College joining the fray. The Mules had just one wrestler at the event so he wrestled a member of each squad, but there were no team scores for those matches.

Delaware Valley (1-4) held a 12-9 lead after six weight classes against York. Eric McCann scored a 6-4 overtime decision over Chuck Glatz at 133 and returning All-American and second ranked Zak Andrew defeated Chris Gugliotti, 10-7, at 149 pounds. Emmanuel Ajagbe and Alec Horan followed with decisions at 157 and 165 pounds respectively.

However, the Spartan took the final four matches to pull out the win. Matt Heisey tied it at 174 while nationally-ranked Alex Matocello registered a technical fall at 184 for a 17-12 lead. Kyle Minogue and George Saliba finished off the win with decisions at 197 and heavyweight respectively for York.

The Wilkes match saw the Aggies hold leads of 9-0 and 12-9 before the Colonels rallied for the victory. Charlie Frankel began the bout by pinning Michael Fleck in 5:43 of their 125-pound match and McCann followed with a decision. Wilkes took the next two – one by fall – before Ajagbe's 11-6 decision at 149 put Delaware Valley back on top halfway through the contest.

Wilkes took the next four weights with two major decisions and two decisions for a 26-12 lead. Zeke Pyle got the Aggies' remaining points at heavyweight with a 6-1 triumph over William Fletcher.
