ALLENTOWN (PA) – The Delaware Valley College wrestling team posted a 1-1-1 record at the Muhlenberg College quad meet. The Aggies opened with a 49-3 victory over the host Mules then tied No. 14 Wilkes University, 19-19. The afternoon ended with a 26-9 loss to 18th-ranked York College.

Delaware Valley heads into the holiday break with a 3-2-1 record in dual meets. The team will return to action on January 8 for the first day of competition at the NWCA/Cliff Keen Division III National Duals in Cedar Falls, Iowa.

Saturday's action saw three Aggies post undefeated records, including 3-0 showings by nationally-ranked wrestlers Jesse Harrington and Aaron Karns. Harrington, a senior and returning All-American, is ranked second in Division III at 157 pounds. Karns, ranked eighth at 197, continued his stellar season with three triumphs, including a 3-1 decision over ninth-ranked George Saliba of York. Charlie Frankel wrestled two matches at 133 pounds and came away with a pin and a major decision.

The match against Muhlenberg (0-3) saw the Aggies take nine of the 10 weight classes, including pins by Frankel, Harrington, Zak Andrews (149) and Zeke Pyle (285). Matt Ulrich (141) had a major decision while Dale Fava (165) won by decision. Zac Haynes (125), Juan Vega (174) and Karns were awarded forfeits.

The match of the day was the middle contest with Wilkes (7-3-1). Delaware Valley won four of the first weight classes – decisions by Haynes, Ulrich and Harrington along with a major by Frankel – for a 13-4 lead. The Colonels took the next three, including a pin, for a 16-13 advantage. Karns regained the lead for the Aggies at 19-16 as he pinned David Oberrender in 5:25. In the final weight class, Wilkes' Christopher Smith edged Pyle, 3-2, for the 19-19 tie.

York (8-1-1) was victorious in seven of the 10 weights for the 26-9 triumph. Harrington, Karns and Pyle took home decisions for the Aggies.
