AGGIES FALL AT MISERCORDIA 56-48

DALLAS (PA) – Misericordia University placed four players in double figures in scoring as the Cougars downed visiting Delaware Valley College, 56-48, in a Freedom Conference game.

After scoring just 17 points in the first half to trail by three, the Aggies (8-5, 1-2) went on an 11-0 run in the first 3:38 of the second stanza to take a 28-20 lead. Kim Vennera (five points) and Emily Soper (four points) combined for nine of the 11 points in the spurt.

Misericordia (7-5, 3-0) came back and took the lead midway through the half. The teams then traded the lead over the next five minutes with Delaware Valley going up two, 40-38, as Brittney Zimmerman converted a pair of free throws with 4:36 on the clock.

However, the Cougars scored five straight to take a three-point lead and they were still up three, 48-45, with 37 seconds left. Misericordia then sank eight of 10 free throws attempts down the stretch to ice the game.

Christine Marks notched 14 points, 14 rebounds and five blocks to pace the Cougars. Jesse Robinson also posted a double-double with 11 and 11 rebounds while Tyann McDaniel and Courtney Skes added 11 and 10 points respectively.

Vennera led the Aggies with 14 points while Soper chipped in with 11. Brittany Battinieri hit a trio of 3-pointers and finished with nine points while Jenna Peoples had six points and a team-high nine rebounds.
