HACKETTSTOWN (NJ) – Delaware Valley College, ranked seventh in Division III, crowned three champions and had four runners-up at Sunday's Centenary College Cyclone Open. Team scoring was not held at the event.
The Aggies had a top four placewinner in all 10 weight classes with Charlie Frankel (125), Justin Barowski (165) and Jeff Siciliano (197) taking home individual titles. Zac Haynes (133), Dale Fava (149), Jesse Harrington (157) and Martin Porter (184) each reached the finals and placed second. Dan Daddino (174) and J.D. Zitone (285) finished third while Zak Andrews (141) took fourth.
Frankel had a bye in the opening round and then earned a 9-6 decision over Francesco Pereira (Nassau CC) to reach the finals. The sophomore then posted an 11-4 victory over Jose Vega (Centenary) to claim the top spot.
Barowski, a senior, went 3-0 to take top honors at 165. He began the day with an 8-3 decision over Kirk Kiriazis (unattached) and followed with a pin in 4:09 over Matt Cutchineal (Gloucester). In the finals, he earned a 16-0, technical fall victory over Matt Regan (Centenary).
Siciliano, a junior, also won three matches to win his weight class. He dropped Tim Tomaino (Centenary) in just 89 seconds and then used a 13-5 major decision over David Khuvin (Nassau CC) to reach the finals. Siliciano then registered a 3-1 decision over Bill Mulligan (unattached) for the crown.
