FAVA, BILQUIST FINISH COMPETITION AT MIDLANDS INVITATIONAL

EVANSTON (IL) -- Delaware Valley College wrestlers Dale Fava and Kyle Bilquist each fared well as they wrapped up their second and final day of competition at the prestigous Midlands Invitational held at Northwestern University,

The invitational primarily features some of the top Division I wrestlers with other receiving invitations to the event. Fava (141 pounds) and Bilquist (heavyweight) were both national qualifiers last year with Bilquist finishing in third place for his second All-American honor.

Fava, a sophomore, went 3-2 at the event, including wins in his first two matches in the championship bracket. He earned an 11-3 major decision over Dan Osterman of Michigan State University and pinned Aaron Nestor of Rider University in 2:44. 

Fava fell into the consolation bracket with a 6-3 loss to second-seeded Dan LeClere of the University of Iowa. He remained alive as he pinned Vince Castillo of Northern Illinois University in 4:02, but was then eliminated with a 10-2 loss to 10th-seeded Todd Schavruen of the University of Missouri   
.

Bilquist hit the mats for the first time this season for Delaware Valley as he elected to use his last semester of collegiate eligibility. He opened with a 3-2 decision over Alan O'Donnell of Michigan State. Bilquist then fell into the consolation bracket with an 11-3 loss to second-seeded Zak Rey of Lehigh University. He was then pinned by Joe Rizgallah of Michigan State in 5:55 to end his run at the invitational.
