James Work Gymnasium
Originally constructed in 1971 as an addition to what is now the Auxiliary Gym, James Work Gymnasium has a seating capacity of 1,800 fans.
The gym is home to Delaware Valley University’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s wrestling teams.
In 2021, the facility underwent upgrades that included a new floor and bleachers.
James Work Gymnasium is named after James Work, who was elected president of the National Farm School—his alma mater—in 1946. The school’s 1945–46 Annual Report stated that he was “eminently qualified by inclination, training, and experience in agriculture, finance, business organization, and administration.” A 1913 graduate, Work also served as president of the Alumni Association and spent 10 years coaching the school’s football team—without accepting a salary.
