Robert A. Lipinski Field at James Work Memorial Stadium
Originally built in 1978, James Work Memorial Stadium has a seating capacity of 4,000 fans.
It serves as the home venue for Delaware Valley University’s field hockey, football, men’s and women’s lacrosse, and men’s and women’s soccer programs.
James Work Stadium is named after James Work, who was elected president of the National Farm School—his alma mater—in 1946. The school’s 1945–46 Annual Report stated that he was “eminently qualified by inclination, training, and experience in agriculture, finance, business organization, and administration.” A 1913 graduate, Work also served as president of the Alumni Association and spent 10 years coaching the school’s football team—without accepting a salary.
The field was dedicated in honor of Robert A. Lipinski ’80, a DelVal alumnus and landscaping major, who generously donated $150,000 in 2006 to install a new grass surface. In 2013, the university saw the need for a multi-purpose artificial turf field and surrounding track to better serve the campus community. As a member of DelVal’s Board of Trustees, Lipinski supported the vision and made an even larger contribution—this time committing approximately $1 million to bring the project to life.
In the summer of 2023, a new press box was constructed, featuring dedicated space for statistics and broadcasting, along with two coaches' rooms used during football games.
