Mantella was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the NCAA Midwest Regional as he captured the 174-pound title. After receiving a win by medical  forfeit in the quarterfinals, Mantella earned a major decision over the third seed in the semis. He then met second-ranked and two-All-American Kyle Vanderhyde in the finals and earned a 6-4, overtime decision. Mantella will bring a perfect 27-0 record to the NCAA Championships in two weeks.
