AGGIES DOWN PENN STATE BRANDYWINE FOR THIRD STRAIGHT WIN

DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College notched its third consecutive win as the host Aggies downed Penn State Brandywine, 62-44, in a non-conference game.

Since suffering a season-opening loss to nationally-ranked Kean University, Delaware Valley has posted double-digit victories over Salisbury University (81-59), Keystone College (72-54) and Penn State Brandywine. The Aggies will take their streak into Wednesday's Freedom Conference opener at Alvernia University.

Delaware Valley never trailed on Saturday afternoon, but the pesky Lions were within five, 21-16, after a Deanna Gineitis layup with 6:01 left in the first half. The Aggies then went on a 14-3 run to take a 35-19 advantage into the intermission. Brittany Battinieri and Rochelle Teesdale netted five points apiece in the spurt.

Delaware Valley put the game away by scoring opening the second half with 15 straight points – six by Teesdale - and 25 of the first 28 for a 60-22 advantage with 11:30 remaining. The Aggies then went to their bench as all 13 healthy players on the roster saw time in the game, including 11 with 10 or more minutes of action.

Teesdale, a sophomore, finished with a career-high 17 points in just 19 minutes of action. Kim Vennera had a double-double at halftime and ended the afternoon with 13 points, 11 rebounds and four steals in 20 minutes. Freshman Jackie Shunkwiler contributed nine points and nine boards in 22 minutes while Battinieri finished with nine points and five assists. Freshmen Brittney Zimmerman grabbed 11 rebounds in 22 minutes while floe rookie Erin Boyer came off the bench to add eight points, five rebounds and four steals.

Shari Harper tallied 15 points and eight rebounds for the Lions (1-2). Jackie Cericola and Ashley Redding added eight points apiece with Cericola also contributing six boards.
