With 15 Middle Atlantic Conference Championships, seven regional titles and six NCAA Division III top-five finishes, Delaware Valley has one of the premier wrestling programs in the country. The Aggies have had just four losing seasons since 1969-70 and have posted three undefeated campaigns in their history.
In addition to 15 conference titles, the Aggies have also had 12 runner-up finishes. Nationally, the 1988-89 Aggie squad went a perfect 18-0 and earned the Division III number one ranking during the season. They crowned three individual national champions that year and finished as the nation's runner-up. In 2004, DelVal finished fourth at the NCAAs and brought home a national trophy.
From 2007 to 2010, the Aggies competed at the Midwest Regionals (a qualifying tournament for the NCAA Championships) and they dominated the action with four team titles, four coach of the year awards, two most outstanding wrestler awards and 24 national qualifiers. The 2008 edition had a school-record eight NCAA qualifiers and four came back as All-Americans as Delaware Valley finished fifth in the team standings.
In 2009, the Aggies posted a 21-1-2 record and were ranked as high as second in the national poll. They shared that spot with eventual national champion Wartburg College after tying the Knights on their own home mat in January. DelVal had a school-record five wrestlers earn All-American honors, including Mike Wilcox who won the 184-pound national championship and was named the Most Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament - the first Aggie to ever receive the honor. DelVal once again took fifth in the team standings.
The 2010 edition tied the school mark with five more All-Americans and a third straight, top-five finish. The Aggies returned to the top 10 In 2014 as they produced four national qualifiers, three All-Americans and one Scholar All-American, en route to a sixth-place showing at the NCAAs.The 2014-15 campaign saw DelVal capture every tournament it was in prior to the NCAAs, including team titles at the MAC and East Regional Championships. Six Aggies qualified for the NCAAs with four crowned as All-Americans, including 149-pound national runner-up Vinny Fava. The team finished in fifth place.
The following season, DelVal had Zach Roseberry crowned the NCAA 285-pound champion, the 10th national title winner in school history. The Aggies also had three Scholar All-Americans in Conor Kirkegard, Ben Schweiger and Brenden Velez. In 2016-17, Roseberry went a perfect 41-0 and successfully defended his NCAA championship. He even earned a spot in Sports Illustrated's "Faces In The Crowd." Schweiger earned All-America honors as well as both he and Velez were named as Scholar All-Americans.Last year, Velez was both an All-American and a Scholar All-American and Jm Wertman was named the Division III Rookie Coach of the Year.
DelVal has had 11 individual champions, 82 All-Americans and 110 MAC Champions in the program's storied history. One of the national champions is former head coach Brandon Totten, who captured back-to-back Division III titles in 1995 and 1996 and is a member of the national Hall of Fame. He is one of three Aggies to win multiple championships. Shaun Smith went 88-1 with three NCAA Division III titles in the late '80s and Roseberry joined the select group as he won the final 60 matches of his career.
