About Field Hockey
The Aggie field hockey program has reached the conference playoffs seven times since 2001, including four in the last 10 years under current head coach Carol Di Girolamo.
Di Girolamo was named the 2006 Freedom Conference Coach of the Year and the team had three players earn all-conference accolades. Freshman Bethany Pavlik was also named the Freedom's Rookie of the Year. Pavlik and teammate Michelle Cernobyl followed up in 2007 with second team, all-conference honors while Cernobyl earned a third all-Freedom accolade and graduated as the program's all-time leading scorer in 2008.
In 2009, Pavlik was named the Freedom Conference Player of the Year and was joined on the all-conference team by four teammates. The Aggies reached the Freedom semifinals and scored in the final minute of regulation before losing in overtime at nationally-ranked and eventual conference champion Eastern. The next year, three Aggies were all-Freedom selections as the team once again reached the conference semifinals. In 2012, the squad was in first place in the conference for part of the regular season before reaching the semifinals. Five players received all-Freedom nods.
The 2013 campaign was one to remember for DelVal as it set a program record with 13 wins and earned the number one seed in the Freedom Conference playoffs. That meant that the Aggies hosted a conference postseason game for the first time and the largest crowd in program history came out to watch the semifinal battle. Delaware Valley was then selected for the ECAC Championships for the first time and upset Richard Stockton in overtime of its quarterfinal battle before falling in the semifinals. Di Girolamo was named Freedom Coach of the Year and five Aggies were named to the all-conference team.
