GRANTHAM (PA) –Delaware Valley University produced a 14
th-place showing out of 16 teams as the Aggies competed in the 2016 Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championships that were held Saturday at Messiah College.
DelVal sent five runners onto the course and they recorded a score of 373 to best Manhattanville College (389) and Albright College (411) in the team standings. DeSales University won its first MAC crown with 34 points, 42 ahead of the host Falcons.
Senior
Sara Chamberlain was the top Aggie placewinner for the second straight year as she crossed the 6K finish line in 26 minutes, 29.6 seconds. That placed her 65
th out of the 156 competitors.
Fellow senior
Anastasia Zajchowski took 73
rd thanks to a time of 27 minutes, 5.3 seconds. Sophomore
Rachel Landis, improved her conference standing by 49 spots from a year ago as she placed 84
th with a time of 27 minutes, 21.9 seconds. Freshmen
Galen Gardner (29:51.9) and
Sam Landers (31:19.8) finished 120
th and 137
th respectively.
Veronica Wheeler of DeSales was the MAC individual champion with a time of 22 minutes. 21/8 seconds.
DelVal will compete at the NCAA Mideast Regional at DeSales University on Saturday, November 12.
