BETHLEHEM (PA) – The Delaware Valley University women's cross country team took part in the prestigious Paul Short Run at Lehigh University and finished in 32
nd place.
The Paul Short run, now in its 43
rd year, is one of the largest cross country meets in the nation with approximately 6,000 athletes from nearly 450 colleges and high schools competing this year.
DelVal, which was without senior
Sara Chamberlain, competed in the 32-team, College Women 6K race and had six runners hit the course (top four comprise team score). Sophomore
Rachel Landis was the top placewinner for the Aggies as she crossed the finish line in 25 minutes, 20 seconds and took 134
th out of 271 runners.
Senior
Anastasia Zajchowski was 179
th as she was clocked at 26 minutes, 20 seconds while freshmen
Sam Landers (27:37) and
Galen Gardner (27:56) rounded out the team scoring by placing 215
th and 226
th respectively. Sophomore
Julia Hellriegel (29:18) and senior
Ashley Vinica (45:15) also competed for DelVal.
Division II Kutztown University won the team title with 138 points while Muhlenberg College's Jamie Pacillo took home the individual crown thanks to a time of 21 minutes, 44 seconds.
The Aggies will run at the DeSales University Invitational next Saturday, October 8 (10:30 a.m.).
