Aggie Men Begin Indoor Campaign At Bow Tie Classic

COLLEGEVILLE (PA) – The Delaware Valley University men's track & field team began the 2015-16 indoor campaign on Saturday at the Bow Tie Classic hosted by Ursinus College.

There was no team scoring at the meet. Sophomore Ta'riq Thomas was the winner in both the long jump (22-11.75) and triple jump (44-2.75). He also tied for fifth (5-4.25) in the high jump and was 24th in the 60 meters with a time of 7.43.

Sophomores Amir Johnson and John Jones and freshman Jacob Hart all had a pair of top-10 finishes. Johnson took eighth (24.02) and Jones was ninth (24.33) in the 200 meters. Jones came in sixth in the long jump with a distance of 20' 5". Johnson finished 10th (53.74) in the 400 meters. Hart crossed the line 10th in both the 3000 (10:47.07) and 5000 (18:42.64) meters.

The Aggies had a third place (1:35.23) in the 4x200 meter relay with the team of Thomas, Jones, freshman Roger Heusner and freshman Michael Helton. Helton placed 16th in the long jump. He leaped 18' 7.75". Heusner tied for 16th in the 60 meter dash, clocking in at 7.35.

Junior Mike Lentine threw the shot put 41' 3", which was good for fifth place. Sophomore Kris Kline recorded a sixth place (3:24.10) in the 1000 meters and he was 13th (20:24.70) in the 5000 meters.

DelVal is back in action on Saturday, January 16 at the Angry Birds Invitational hosted by Lehigh University (10:00 a.m.).
