MAYLOR WINS HEPTATHLON IN RECORD-SETTING FASHION AT MAC's

ELIZABETHTOWN (PA) – Day two of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Outdoor Track & Field Championships saw Delaware Valley College sophomore Alexis Maylor set a school and conference record in the heptathlon as the Aggie women are in sixth place out of 10 teams. The men have yet to record a point, but senior Travis Pitts earned a berth in Saturday's finals of the 100 and 200-meter dashes, events he won last year.

The Aggie women have notched 29 points with 10 coming from the record-setting performance by Maylor, who captured the MAC pentathlon crown during the past indoor season. Her total of 4,244 points shattered the school record of 3,788 points set by Randi Kunkel back in 1987. It was also 200 points higher than what Messiah College's Amy Reed recorded in 2005. Maylor took top honors in five of the seven hepthalon events with first-place finishes in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, 200-meter dash and long jump.

Senior All-American Meghan Donovan finished in second place in the high jump as she cleared the bar at 5 feet, 3.75 inches. Donovan did not compete at last year's MAC Championships, but went on to nationals after a record-setting showing at the ECAC Championships. Donovan won the MAC outdoor crown in 2010 and took the last two indoor titles in the event.

Junior Tracey Forsythe had a runner-up showing and picked up eight points for Delaware Valley as well as she was clocked at 12 minutes, 22.15 seconds in the 3,000-meter steeplechase. That earned her first-team, all-conference accolades.

Senior Rachelle Salem picked up second-team accolades for the year in a row as she placed sixth in the shot put thanks to a throw of 110 feet, 1 inch.

Pitts recorded the top time in Friday's 100-meter dash preliminaries as the All-Americans crossed the finish line in 10.81 seconds. His time of 22.31 seconds in the 200-meter dash placed third in the preliminaries, but him in Saturday's final.

Action resumes at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday at Elizabethtown College.
