Delaware Valley College assistant coach and College Football Hall of Famer
Bill Manlove was recently honored with a Special Recognition Award at the Philadelphia Sportswriters Association's annual dinner in Cherry Hill, NJ.
The recognition was for Manlove's induction into the Hall of Fame last summer. He was one of a number of honorees at the dinner including Philadelphia Phillies manager Charlie Manuel, Philadelphia Flyers forward Claude Girouz, legendary Philadelphia University basketball coach Herb Magee and women's basketbal pioneer Cathy Rush.
Manlove compiled a 212-110-1 record in 32 years as a head coach at Widener University, Delaware Valley College and LaSalle University, including a streak of 21 consecutive winning seasons. He won a pair of Division III national championships as well as seven playoff berths and 10 conference championships.
After Manlove retired from head coaching in 2001, he couldn't stay away from the game he loves and he returned to Delaware Valley as an assistant coach a year later. He has been a key contributor to the success of the program over that time as Delaware Valley has won seven Middle Atlantic Conference championships and two ECAC championships, and has made fiver appearances in the NCAA Diivision III playoffs including the quarterfinals in both 2004 and 2005.
