DOYLESTOWN (PA) – Delaware Valley College senior standout
Caitlin Dorgan blew away the competition as she captured the DVC Invitational title for the second consecutive year. Dorgan's performance helped the Aggie women placed sixth out of 18 teams while the men finished 12th out of 22 squads.
Dorgan, who became the first Delaware Valley women's cross country to qualify for the NCAA Division III Championships last year, picked up where she left off as her 6K time of 23 minutes, 26.96 seconds was nearly 31 full seconds better than runner-up Taryn Shank of Elizabethtown College (23:57.44). Dorgan was also the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) runner-up a season ago (the champion graduated) and the favorite to win this year championship especially with the fact that the event will take place on the Delaware Valley campus. In fact, nine other MAC schools competed in Saturday's invitational to get a feel of the course.
Dorgan's performance helped the Aggies register 174 points to trail only Elizabethtown (48 points), Messiah College (69 points), Lebanon Valley College (78 points), Ursinus College (118 points), Richard Stockton (166 points).
Alisa Jordan finished in 28th place out of 195 competitors with a time of 25 minutes, 47.57 seconds while returning all-conference runner
Tracey Forsythe was 49th with a time of 26 minutes, 51.67 seconds.
Kayla Booher (58th – 27:19.30) and
Meghan Valnoski (92nd – 28:49.59) rounded out the scoring for the Aggies.
On the men's side,
Thomas Porter was 20th out of 208 runners with an 8K time of 28 minutes, 31.23 seconds.
Andrew McMillan took 88th with a time of 31 minutes, 21.67 seconds while Christopher Kenny (105th – 31:52.98),
Stephen Miller (116th – 32:21.76) and
