BEREA (OH) -- Delaware Valley College sophomore Tom Masterson finished in 12th place out of 16 competitors in the javelin at the 2010 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at Baldwin-Wallace College.
Masterson, who qualified for the national championships for the first time in his career, recorded a throw of 181 feet, 11 inches in the first flight. It was not enough to advance to the finals, but the distance topped that of four other throwers. Brock Solveson of Concordia College (Wisconsin) won the javelin title with a throw of 219 feet, 9 inches, more than 15 feet better than runner-up Sean Biehn of Rowan University.
